Comments about Eagle Creek Docking Duffel™:

I use this as a swimming bag.

Plus points: very light; takes up very little space; can store wet gear and/or shower gear in the end bag and separate if necessary; I love the stash pocket on top (it's big enough to take a kindle and probably an iPad mini, but not an iPad Air); plenty of easily-accessible space in the main compartment. The zippers are excellent; tough and easy to operate. The shoulder strap is comfortable. The compression straps are useful if needed and can be tidied out of the way if not required.

Less good, in my opinion: If the end bag is loaded but the main compartment is not, the bag can be unbalanced to carry. I would prefer a U-shaped zip with the seam on one long side, rather than on a short side; this can be awkward to get into in order to grab something quickly, particularly if the end bag is loaded. The bag would benefit from either a second end pocket below the stash pocket, or a zip pocket on the front, as found on many other EC bags, or both. I feel the trade-off in weight would be worth it for the extra organisation and the ability to balance the end bag. Or what about two detachable end bags, perhaps ones that could be clipped together and carried separately if needed..?

Overall, a good bag for travel use, particularly for short trips. The shape of the main zip works better for a 'clothes' bag or mixed carry-on than for sole carry-on or organisational use.

Comments about Eagle Creek Docking Duffel™:

I use this as a carry-on, as a primary for weekend trips, and a regular to/from work duffel. This thing is amazing. It is PERFECT for a carry-on. I used it while transiting to Bahrain. This was my companion bag in addition to a switchback backpack. But with the detachable tablet bag, it's more like 3 bags. This thing is perfect. It is a true duffel. One big open space with easy access zippers, handles, and strap. Because of the way the strap goes on, it eliminates that awkward way most duffels hang off of you.

Look no further.. THIS IS IT!
