the video says it all. in fact I own 3 of them. just in case if the company should de-side to disco them. I must have one. I use mine for everyday use. I take it everywhere. the 2 things that I found that gave me a hard time was the pen storage. being to short. the pen falls out a lot and I lose lots of pens. the other is the length of the strap. being to short. I stand at 6-2. even fully loose its like close to my arm pit. I hope they added a extra 12 inches then the first one. you can always make it smaller to fit but you cant always make it longer. this bag I have owned for over 16 years. yes I need a new one. they did make some changes from the original. I found them to be great ones. you will not be sorry. specially with the life time guarantee and great customer service. my zippers broke 2 times. well worth the money. well can I be compensated for writing this review. I really do own 3. I also gave one away as a gift. really people. this is all true. if you get a chance to see one in person. its worth checking out. also i have traveled to the Philippines. this came in very handy. along with other bags from eagle creek.

I have had two of the old style bags, I'd use them in place of a larger carry on...they were great! The strap no longer is padded; the new strap gets in the way. The bag seems smaller...I used to pack a jacket, guide books, a water bottle, earphones and something to eat in the old guide bag. No longer. I am sure that my old bags had side pockets. This is more like a discount outfitters bag than the great stuff I am used to from Eagle Creek. Please Eagle Creek, bring back the old bag! It was a true winner...this one just doesn't measure up.

the old one, at least 20 years old, is the best and only purse during all that time, as the webbing wore out on the front, nothing else, I looked for years for a purse like it without finding any!! So happy you are making this purse again. It is strong useful, good looking, and lasts a long time, obviously, well designed and not too big. thank you for bring it back......

I have had this same bag since at least 1994. Loaned mine to a friend for a int'l trip and she lost it. Have been searching for a replacement for a year -and now the original design is back. Alleluia. Is the perfect shape, size and compartments. This is my everyday, go every where bag, including more than 50 flights a year.

I had two friends I lived with years ago who both had one of these bags. They still have them! They have extended life spans :P 15 years later. I wanted one for a long time and finally got one, I love it as I knew I would. Goes great with my Eagle Creek wallet.

Comments about Eagle Creek Guide Trek:

Thanks for bringing this bag back! I loved my old one but the clasp broke and it was just getting worn out. I also used it as a CCW bag and I loved it.
There are Pros and Cons with the new bag.
Pros: you made it available again. The compartments are better organized for usefulness. The new clasp is a better design than the old one and my guess is it will outlast the old one.

Cons: what's with the whimpy grab loop? The old one had a strap three times the width of the new one. I'd like to see that strap even larger with a wrapped grip on it.
The old shoulder strap had a shoulder pad on it that was much more comfortable than the new one. The flap on the new one covers all the main compartments. I prefer the double zippered large pocket of the old one that was not covered by the flap and located on the top of the bag. I also miss the tool loop that was on the thin side of the bag.

I am glad you brought the bag back but I'd like to see some of the old features again.
All things considered, it's the best bag for the money I have found and would definitely recommend it. For anyone interested, an iPad will fit nicely in the large pocket.

I purchased this product to replace a similar travel purse that was eaten by my friend's dog. I loved that purse and had traveled all over the world with it, it was *perfect;* this product is the closest thing I could find. It's been a great replacement so far.

Delivery was super quick. This is a great everyday or on vacation, man-bag for all those loose items: eye glasses, car keys, credentials, pens, lists. Don't have to worry about wearing shorts/pants with pockets.

Comments about Eagle Creek Guide Trek:

The Product Specs Demensions diagram is misleading. It shows a 5'10" person with the bag hanging just below waist/elbow level. I'm 5`8" and at full extend is about a 1/3 above my waist/elbow. I would have preferred it below as shown in the diagram. On the bag I received, the way the strap is mounted is different from the video and picture. From one side, it goes across the top to the other side and loops through and then back so it is connected twice on one side. This makes the strap about 9" shorter. I don't see why the strap needs to go across the top rather than connecting directly to the oposite side as the picture shows.

Comments about Eagle Creek Guide Trek:

I have one of these bags from years ago that I LOVE and I was hoping this would be exactly the same. However, they made a few small changes that are not for the better. I leave the large flap back most of the time for easy access to everything. The small zip pocket under that flap used to be solid material where you could keep credit cards because it's the perfect size. However, the new version is mesh and I don't want my credit cards being seen through the mesh so I cannot use that pocket for that purpose anymore. Also, the larger pocket right behind that pocket used to have a zipper, but the newer version does not and I like the security of the zipper. Everything else is the same except the large flap pocket used to secure with Velcro and now it is a snap closure and the pocket on the outside of the flap is smaller than it used to be, but I rarely use that pocket anyway so that does not matter. Great bag, but bring the true, original version back.
