Thanks for bringing this bag back! I loved my old one but the clasp broke and it was just getting worn out. I also used it as a CCW bag and I loved it.
There are Pros and Cons with the new bag.
Pros: you made it available again. The compartments are better organized for usefulness. The new clasp is a better design than the old one and my guess is it will outlast the old one.

Cons: what's with the whimpy grab loop? The old one had a strap three times the width of the new one. I'd like to see that strap even larger with a wrapped grip on it.
The old shoulder strap had a shoulder pad on it that was much more comfortable than the new one. The flap on the new one covers all the main compartments. I prefer the double zippered large pocket of the old one that was not covered by the flap and located on the top of the bag. I also miss the tool loop that was on the thin side of the bag.

I am glad you brought the bag back but I'd like to see some of the old features again.
All things considered, it's the best bag for the money I have found and would definitely recommend it. For anyone interested, an iPad will fit nicely in the large pocket.

I have had two of the old style bags, I'd use them in place of a larger carry on...they were great! The strap no longer is padded; the new strap gets in the way. The bag seems smaller...I used to pack a jacket, guide books, a water bottle, earphones and something to eat in the old guide bag. No longer. I am sure that my old bags had side pockets. This is more like a discount outfitters bag than the great stuff I am used to from Eagle Creek. Please Eagle Creek, bring back the old bag! It was a true winner...this one just doesn't measure up.

Comments about Eagle Creek Guide Trek:

I got this bag for an every day purse, after the one I bought from eagle creek 5 years ago blew out a zipper (I carried that bag every single day for over 5 years before the zipper busted - Eagle Creek has seriously quality products).
This one is smaller, and while the fabric appears durable, it doesn't seem as high quality as my previous bag, and the bag doesn't have as many compartments. The fabric seems more casual/rugged than the old one I have.

Got this to help with commuting between two offices and for taking phone, calculator, computer pad, glasses etc. to field (outdoor environmental) and it has worked admirably, not too big, yet adequate capacity, not too many whistles and bells would never use.

old style/color is better, all black

        By Customer

        from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Eagle Creek Guide Trek:

All black is better. Now lining has a light color which doesn't blend in and could get dirty looking.

I was going to buy the same bag again after using one for many years. I am worried that the new bag with not be the same quality. The quality with so many things is not as good as it was.

Comments about Eagle Creek Guide Trek:

The shoulder bag would be fine if the outer flap covered the inner contents. With the inner contents exposed thru the open mesh, i want the outer flap to fit tighter & not expose my 'stuff'. im in nyc, going into crowds & the Subway; i also travel thru cities around the world. i don't want anyone seeing what i'm carrying with me.
And it looks tacky to have your shoulder bag half "opened".

I carried the previous model for years and it was showing wear. This new version is clearly a cheaper, probably "a money-saver" from the old model. Everything about this bag is a poor. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

I originally bought this purse 14 years ago for a trip to Europe but found it so practical and easy for everyday use, I continued to use it until it finally just wore out....but it took at least 10 years to do so. I was delighted to find that Eagle Creek still made this bag as I prepared for another lengthy trip but have already just adopted it as my everyday purse. It's so light and has plenty of room for wallet, glasses, etc. The best!

This looks like it could be a replacement for the ever-popular "Wanderer", but it falls far short of that! It's much smaller, doesn't have as many pockets, and the carry loop is thin and unreliable.

It looks like people are asking Eagle Creek to bring back the "Wanderer"! I guarantee this will sell quickly! I've had mine for over 25 years, and will carry it until Eagle Creek brings this style back!

I am sending back the "Guide Trek"! It's just too small!
