Comments about Eagle Creek Side Trek:

I love this bag! I own its predecessor and used it every day until one of the zippers broke--its only weakness. Used it for travel as a fanny pack too. So I bought this one to use until I can get the old one repaired. I only gave this one 4 stars (would have given it 4 1/2 if I could) because the pocket arrangement isn't as good and the strap is too long--both very minor inconviences. Bought the green one this time for a color change and like the color.

Comments about Eagle Creek Side Trek:

My old Eagle Creek waist pack finally gave out after about twenty years. This somewhat smaller version is the best replacement I could find. The pockets and sleeves are versatile and easy to reach.

I've only got one gripe. The clasp is on the left side. I'm right-handed, and I find it difficult to fasten the strap. What works is to pull the pack around to my right hip, fasten it, then slide it back to my left hip. Awkward - especially with a phone case on my right hip.

Switch the phone and the waist pack, you say? But then I can't fasten my seatbelt, and the phone becomes hard to reach. No, no. What we need here is a right-sided clasp. Just like the clasp on my dear old waist pack - which was perfect, but is now deceased. May it rest in peace.

Other than that, I'm a happy customer.

Comments about Eagle Creek Side Trek:

I use this as my main purse... Due to a lot of biking to work ect.so I can just grab and buckle and go. I love it .. This is my third one in 15yrs, .the zippers always get bad but they are used every day!! The only come are as above...1 I miss the inside mesh zipper pocket they used to have.2 i miss the little lupe's or spaces, that used to be on the attached part of the waist belt. I used those to attach a small phone pouch.thanks for asking

Comments about Eagle Creek Side Trek:

Have used the Sidekick for years. Had to get used to some changes with this Side Trek. The added zipper fobs on the zipper pulls are very nice, and make the quality zippers glide even easier. The shoulder strap is wide enough that it no longer needs the pesky shoulder cushion that needed constant readjustment.

Comments about Eagle Creek Side Trek:

I have a an older Sidekick that I have had for at least 5 years and maybe longer. I wear it around my waist and it has become a part of me. The front pocket zipper failed and I purchased a new Side Trek thinking it would be the same thing since that is what EC claimed. However changes have definitely been made. The organizer pockets have been changed and they don't accommodate my wallet (also and EC product) and point&shoot camera like before. The fabric and belts seem lighter and it doesn't have the same "drape". The top zippers don't close unless I hold the side of the bag. The bag just distorts. I think this is because the lighter weight fabric doesn't hold its shape as well against the force of the zipper being pulled.

Another area that could use improvement is the handling of the waist strap. On the Side Trek the buckle for the waist strap has been moved from the right to left side. Quite an annoyance after many years of having it on the right side. But even on the Sidekick the management of the extra strap length was poorly thought out. I managed it by rolling it into a small bundle and using a nylon wire tie to hold it to the rest of the strap. This also set the strap length so that I didn't have to adjust it every time I put it on.

I do like the olive color of the new bag but my other issues outweigh this plus. For the new user that doesn't come to this product with established expectations and habits this is probably a great bag.
