Comments about Eagle Creek Switchback 22:

GREAT PRODUCT...ACTUALLY HAVE THE ORIGINAL ALL BLACK BAG PURCHASED IN 2006 AND ITS STILL ROCKING. THE WHEEL JUST BROKE OFF WHILE TRAVELING, BUT AFTER 8 YEARS AND HEAVY BACKPACKING/TRAVEL ACROSS MULTIPLE CONTINENTS, I COULDN'T JUST DONATE IT...TOO SOLID AND I'M GOING TO TRY TO GET THE WHEEL REPAIRED. WELL WORTH THE $300 PAID IN 2006...

Comments about Eagle Creek Switchback 22:

I took this bag and a small carry on for a three week vacation to Europe with two young children by myself. My primary needs were light weight, at least one hand free and I wanted a back pack upon arrival. I also wanted the option of carry on or check.

It traveled well on planes, trains, cars and metro. What I appreciated most about this bag was the flexibility. On the way out, I brought this bag (we had a 15 lbs weight limit of each carry on, I separated the bag into its two bags) and another small bag on as carry on due to a tight international connection. At arrival, I was able to attach the back pack and bag back together and carry the other bag on the handle. This allowed me to have one hand free for holding one child's hand while the other child held onto the bag handle. The bag rolled easily down the aisle of the plane and the train. It also fit easily in the overhead. We were able to breeze through the airport and make connections to trains, metro, taxi, other airlines without any problem in record time; I was able to concentrate on my kids rather than on our luggage.

I have another eagle creek bag I love, and have used for business and personal travel for the last 13 years. It's just now showing signs of wear.

Comments about Eagle Creek Switchback 22:

I love my Switchback 22. It's been to Nepal for two weeks, France for a week, Greece for a couple weeks, anywhere I go. I love that I can carry this bag on an airplane, and on international trips, the daypack zipping into the wheeled bag so it was one bag was very beneficial. It's great that the daypack has a padded computer sleeve for my 15", iPad and Kindle; they all fit in there. Even when I overpack I still seem to have room, but if you are a diva or have lots of shoes and product, or are heading on a long trip, it may or may not work for you.

Especially grateful these days when a checked bag might cost you.

          Eagle Creek forever!

Comments about Eagle Creek Switchback 22:

Poorly designed!! The luggage barely stands up on it's own when packed and falls over if the small back pack or a brief case is straddled on the extended handle as is commonly done. I had the prior generation of the Switchback 22 for years and traveled the world with it so this is very disappointing.

A Few Reservations About the Switchback

Comments about Eagle Creek Switchback 22:

After 20 years of using an Eagle Creek backpack that I loved (an older version of the Digi Hauler), I thought I would really enjoy the Switchback since the wheels add yet another option for carrying it. But while I like the main bag, the detachable daypack is proving to be more trouble than its worth. When attached to the front of the main bag or when put on the handles on top of the main bag, the whole thing topples over. After two trips with the Switchback, I am finding the bag is not as versatile as I'd hoped it would be.

My recommendation for this bag comes with reservations.

Comments about Eagle Creek Switchback 22:

I spend a lot of time traveling by car and plane and I was looking for a product that would meet some very specific needs.

                      1. It had to integrate a carry on and a removable daypack
                      2. The daypack had to carry a laptop and tablet
                      3. It had to be durable and laden with extra features.

The Switchback 22 meets all these needs and more. I researched the bag online and was very impressed. But when I saw it, handled it, and packed it for the first time, I was simply blown away. This is the perfect bag for me. It's great for business travelers who are constantly in and out of planes, cars, and hotels. I love the fact that I can leave the main bag in the hotel room while I grab the daypack and take it to a meeting downstairs. I put the removable back straps on the daypack and I just roll the main bag. The wheels are tough, but smooth. There are multiple carry options, some I don't use. The daypack takes some effort to zip on to the main bag, but it easier if the main bag is full. Most of the time I just carry the daypack on my back because it is very comfortable and light. The Switchback is great for those who love practical business travel gear--guys and gals who are "shoe leather" types that favor functionality and reliability. The Switchback is spacious, lightweight, and durable and I highly recommend it.

Comments about Eagle Creek Switchback 22:

This product is very nice and I love the combo of daypack/carry-on. It's very little weight and rest very comfortably on my back, both the day and combo pack, feeling sturdy at all times. I currently have had only excellent experience with this bag, but am worried about the use of Velcro for sustaining the shoulder straps for both packs. You receive one par of straps that are interchangeable between both packs fasten with Velcro at the top. I am not feeling to confident that after a few trips and a few years of use that the Velcro will age well. I really hope I'm wrong. You will also be missing a large mesh pocket that you seem to find in most luggages.

As you can see in the video the larger luggage is never opened, yes there is a picture so maybe I should have looked closer, nor do they show you how the straps are tethered from bag to bag leaving me feel they left out some very important information for the video.

Overall I really do enjoy this bag and would recommend it to anyone traveling and wanting a combo daypack/carry-on but can only give it 8 ½ out of 10 because of the few cons below.

                      Pros:
                      - Lightweight
                      - Comfortable while carrying (both packs)
                      - Lots of room for goods
                      - Product seems very sturdy and of good quality (except for the use of Velcro)
                      - You don't have to check it in while traveling
                      - Very stylish and does look more like a large backpack then luggage

                      Cons:
                      - Use of Velcro (won't know for a few year for sure)
                      - No mesh pocket inside large bag
                      - Daypack side pockets aren't meshed so any water bottle will fall out.
