This wonderful piece of Eagle Creek luggage is my favorite, with the mulitiple inside zip compartments and great look and color, (mine is light green), but unfortunately, it does notpass the carry on luggage requirements of many foreign Flight requirements. I have been stopped multiple times in Europe and Asia when it did not fit into the metal box that is used as a standard. While it measures as if it should fit, it doesn't fit into thesetight fitting metal test frames. Thus, I've had to argue, fight, and try to get my important documents on board, even once being escorted through security via a back route. Otherwise, I've had to re-check the bag through baggage, when a fee must then be incurred with many airlines.I would re-classify this bag, as not being regulation for carry on. It fits perfectly in the overhead bins, but this argument does not hold with the government flight regulations.I am looking at downsizing, unfortunately, to your 20Tarmac.A 21Tarmac could be aperfect fit. Keep up your great designs and colorsTracey

I first wrote to Eagle Creek with regards to the size of their bags back on Oct 24 and received a response on Oct 25 with a generic response. I then called Eagle Creek on the same day and spoke to Jennifer who said she would ask the warehouse to pull up the bags I was questioning and take their measurements and they would let me know. I then wrote again on the 26th asking for exact sizing on 5 Eagle Creek bags and received a generic response with no info. I again wrote on Nov 9th asking for a response to my previous e-mails and call. I received a call saying this request would be sent again. To date no response! I have tried to find someone else at Eagle Creek to write to but have not been successful in finding an e-mail address. I have composed a letter to the president... Steve Barker but again no e-mail addresses to send it to. In a nut shell here is my inquiry. Airlines are forcing people to either pay a fee or check their luggage or you must carry your luggage on. However the size restrictions are being adhered to and many people are being caught with the wrong size of carry-on luggage... me included. Many of Eagle Creek's carry-on bags state they are 22 x 14 x 9 which is legal carry on size for many airlines. 22 x 14 x 9 when multiplied out equals 2772 cu inches. However, when I look at the ORV Trunk 22 it states it is 2800 cu in or for the Tarmac 22 it shows 2990 in cu. I also read by a poster that their 22 in duffel was actually over 23 inches. Anything over 2772 cu inches has to be larger than the 22 x 14 x 9 so I no realized that while Eagle Creek shows the sizes of their carryon bags as 22 x 14 x 9 this may or may not be true. I live in Canada whereby I cannot go into a store and measure the bag before I try. From what I have read, Eagle Creek seems to be a superior product but one does start to wonder when the sizing of their bags seems to be incorrect and when questioned about it, I cannot seem to get an answer.

Comments about Eagle Creek Tarmac 22:
I have been traveling weekly two to four flights a week with the Tarmac 22 for over three years. Fantastic bag - great packing space, especially with the packing system - and unbelievably durable. My bag is now filthy so I started shopping for a replacement only to find the updated model does not have the same duel compartments in the lid. New model looks less functional than the prior design. Why the change? Please bring back the duel compartments in the lid!!!

Tough bag, poor design
By Ed, regular use

The bag is tough and it is well made with good materials. BUT I want to tear my hair out sometimes because whoever designed the bag hasn't thought it through. The little pocket on the front is not wide enough and too deep, you can fit a phone/passport/kindle in there but not much else. And if you have a laptop in the main front pocket, then this takes up all the available space of the little front

I've had this bag for 1.5 years now and it is terrific.Well designed & executed. Not cheap, but it should pay for itself in baggage fees that I don't have to pay.Great warranty.

Size is important...But the organization is paramount.I use it for everyday car & airline travel. The organization is better than just about any case I've used.

Loud Sound When Moving on Hard Surface
By Kevin

I am a huge fan of Eagle Creek products and own two ES2 luggage (Tarmac 22 and 25) plus accessories.I'm excited to see the improvements made for the new ES3 series: for example the introduction of Tarmac 20 wide body and previous version is a bit small; the redesigned Tarmac 22 external compartment is large enough to fit a 15 inch laptop (ES2 Tarmac can't) and this saves time when passing through the security line. It's clear that the Eagle Creek team has put in much effort in continued improvement of their products. However, I have one complaint about theseries: the wheels make a loud sound when moving on hard surface.I suppose the design was to extend wheel life by using a hard material. I encourage you adopt a quieter wheel design.

No Regrets.
By Michael

Purchased one 3 weeks ago. I've dragged it around the trains and subways of NYC on two week-long trips since then.No regrets. The wheels are quiet. It's built rugged, and is stylish. I do have 2 items for feedback: (1) I've noticed when going up and down escalators on the NY subway there is no extra protection on the bag up where the sharp escalator step edges hit the bag if it's leaning forwar

Hooked on Their Products

I have used Eagle Creek products for many years. I have traveled around the planet many times and love the fact that I trust these products. The guarantee is amazing! My ex decided to take out her anger on a Tarmac 22 with a razor and when I called Eagle Creek about a repair they took the damaged bag and replaced it without question - am I hooked on their products or what?
