Last year, just before flying on a 7-month All-Germany trip, i've decided to look for a new suitcase. My last travel ended up with a torn suitcase, wheels fell somewhere on the first days, and moving around was somewhat of a nightmare. This time will be different, so i decided, especially since this trip would be my first alone, for such a long period of time, when the idea is to move from a hostel to another hostel, in many trains, many staircases, bad weather. Being a 21-year-old girl from Israel, with a limited budget, the decision to buy the Eagle Creek suitcase for a trip in Europe was strange for my surroundings to comprehend. But it was obvious for me that this was probably the most crucial purchase. And so i bought it. And flew away. Everything i needed was in it, my entire world for a long time, and when my world expended with maps and lots of memories i just couldn't leave behind, my suitcase still handled it. Through muddy and snowy German winter, Parisian staircases, and just many many travels around (just about 40), this suitcase was the most reliable thing in my trip. Nothing, absolutely nothing about it bothered me, and that was a huge relief. More than a year and a half now, it still looks and functions as a brand new, wheels are definitely still there, and i have a feeling we won't separate for many years to come.I first and formost thank you, Eagle Creek, for entering my life. This must be the smartest purchase of my life, too.Nitzan

I have had a number of EagleCreek bags over the years and they have gone with me on over a million air miles without letting me down. They didn't wear out, just new features of the Tarmac caught my eye.The Tarmac improves on the past wheeled bags by adding an angled, longer handle. The book style opening is welcomed that makes it easier to access the content. The wheels are the slickest on the market. They glide over the miles like greased lightening. The only improvement that EC could make is to add a light colored material to the interior to make it easier to seen the contents in the dark hotel closets.Another idea is to move the eye glasses case to another side of the bag.Currently, it is on the opposite side as the primary side handle. While a good idea, it is placed so that anything in side would be crushed.I have never used the glasses case.

inside pocket upside down, tight zipper

Comments about Eagle Creek Tarmac 25:
I bought the Tarmac 25 for 17 day trip which is fine. I packed lightly so there were still room. I am now looking for a slightly smaller suitcase, maybe 23 to 24 inch. I see that the next size is 22 which is too small. The main problem is the inside pocket which opens upside down. Who designed it this way? Very strange and difficult to take things out of the mesh inside pocket. Also wish outside p
I'll Never Buy Another Piece Again

I am fairly confident (maybe even 100% sure) I'll never buy another piece of luggage again.A few years ago, after doing an exhaustive search for luggage for my mom and dad for an upcoming European trip, I came across Eagle Creek.I bought two larger pieces and two carry on bags for them. They returned saying how great the bags were. So, with an upcoming cruise to the Middle East, I made a spl
Locks

I recently took this bag on an 8-day trip and was very satisfied with it.I also used the various packing cubes, folders, etc., from Eagle Creek -- really nice to have everything organized. My only complaint about the bag is that the Magellan TSA locks I bought would only fit on the main compartment lock. They would not fit on the other two locks -- they were too small for the hook on the Magellan TSA lock. That was very disappointing, since I always like to lock everything.
I Love This Suitcase & This Company!
By Helen

I love this suitcase and this company. Last fall my husband and I each treated ourselves to this suitcase along with a carry on bag. Our plan was to use it for our 6 week vacation in Australia and New Zealand to minimize the size of our suitcases and to facilitate carrying them on plane, train, bus.Imagine my distress when I ran into a small problem with the handle on my Tarmac 25 after a few weeks of travel. I notified Eagle Creek and had an immediate response. They put me in touch with the European rep who emailed me a list of companies they deal with in NZ and Australia. A quick trip to a dealer and within a few minutes I left the store with a replacement unit, an exact clone of mint. I was astounded! Service does not get much better than this. Kudos to Eagle Creek and their customer service reps.

This bag is great, it has been across the U.S. with me and to Africa and Europe 3 times. It still looks brand new and I can pack enough clothes for 2 weeks using the Pack It System.I love it, I will be buying a lot more of your gear in the future.
Defiantly Sold on the EC Bag

I was searching for a nice looking luggage and something with a well planned organization compartments. And I happened to come across the Tarmac 25. What attracted me was the look of the bag and how it matched my age, I'm 20 and I didn't want to bring the good ol' traditional rigid luggage. When I opened up the Tarmac 25, I was amazed. The way the insides were organized blew me away. It had everything I need. One of the compartments that got me intrigued was the shoebox, I had never seen a luggage with one. It was perfect especially for a trip that's 3 months long! I could have my running shoes, extra pair of causal shoes and my slippers all in. The other compartment that I love is the stash cache which is ingeniously embedded at the bottom of the bag. Perfect for stuff like socks. Inside the bag, EC also included packing suggestions, which prompted me to check out the Pack-It System, and I must say, I'm sold! I got the Folder 18 which fits in perfectly to the Tarmac 25 and the Tube Cube, which fits snuggly on top of the Folder 18. I am defiantly sold on the EC bags and luggage and their packing system. I'm so sticking to their products.

Have been using Eagle Creek products for years, and just bought the Tarmac last year.Love its capacity, organization (multiple pockets), and book opening access.Only thing I miss are the internal side pockets where I would pack things like flashlights, multi-tool, etc in my previous model.Every product of yours I have is terrific.Keep it up!
Disappointed Me

I am usually a HUGE EC fan.I have owned many pieces from luggage to accessory pieces but this piece disappointed me.The 1st trip I took with it, the stabilizing U piece (that allows it to stand up without falling over) broke off.It always seems to be collapsing into itself whether it is full or empty.I understand that this is a soft sided piece but I have owned other EC soft sided pieces that did not do this.I continue to use it because It is the perfect side.I DO Like that my pack-it cubes and dob kits fit nicely in here which helps with the organization. If I had to do it over, I would still go with EC but would go with a different model
Very Nice

I just finished a 3 month trip through New Zealand with my Tarmac and Tote.... I organized my things in packing cubes so the Tarmac 25 had plenty of room for everything ... I actually was able to leave my tote at a friend's house and travel with one suitcase, which was great as I was getting around by bus and train... the suitcase held up quite well even after being literally 'thrown' into the bus's cargo holds... I also appreciated the sturdy wheels which enabled me to roll across everything imaginable... did you know you can push as well as pull this luggage... very nice!My only problem occurred when I lost the piggyback clip... unfortunately it slipped off somewhere never to be found again...
