Four Ah-Has with this backpack:

- The front compartment is quite deep and can hold a surprising amount of gear, including my iPhone 6 Plus, sunglasses, headphones, charger cords for my laptop and iPhone, a travel doc organizer, my bag of liquids and gels, and more.

- Putting a laptop in the laptop compartment doesn't reduce the capacity of the main compartment as it does in some other backpacks.

- A fully-packed medium garment folder will fit in the main compartment of this backpack. At the hotel, I took the garment folder out and had a generously-sized day pack.

- Filled to capacity, this backpack approaches the size limit for a carry-on bag and doesn't stow easily under an airline seat. It will do so just fine though if it's only partially full.

Great backpack in principle, and I use a lot of Eagle Creek products - but this one is a disappointment as the little plastic thingie connecting the chest strap to the shoulder strap broke after only a few months of usage. Will have to send the backpack in for repair now.

Comments about Eagle Creek Universal Traveler Backpack RFID:

eagle creek did a significant update of this bag from last year's version. improvements include:
          - increased storage space - 31->35L
          - preserved lightweight despite change in materials
          - back and shoulder straps have a new padding with swiss-cheese like miniholes for ventilation
          - the r zip pocket has an accordion fold that keeps contents from falling out; much more useful for storing a fablet
          - more structured padding between compartments which gives the whole bag a stiffer feel
          - reinforced base for the waist strap

what would be nice to see in future iterations is a top loading pouch that allows storage of smartphones. (see the camelbak mule or tumi knox)

Comments about Eagle Creek Universal Traveler Backpack RFID:

Love the bag and have had it for a couple years now. I travel a hundred thousand miles per year -- always on the road/sky/train ... every method to every continent.

Excellent quality and nice features but the one big missing feature is a front pocket to put Airline tickets, passport, wallet, etc temporarily when you just don't want to have to open up the bag for a short term need. Its a pain now.

It bothers me enough to continue to seek for another solution which has the same features -- but adds that front pocket.

Comments about Eagle Creek Universal Traveler Backpack RFID:

I use it as a daypack, and it's versatile and carefully designed. My only complaint is that it may be a little over-engineered - there are all sorts of pockets and flaps and compartments, probably more than I need. Sometimes I forget where my keys and phone are because there are so many pockets! In general, I'm very happy with it.

Comments about Eagle Creek Universal Traveler Backpack RFID:

A versatile, solidly constructed yet lightweight backpack. I looked at many backpacks at the store, and this one was the clear front runner out of many brands / models. I haven't had a chance to thoroughly test it yet, but the construction feels solid everywhere. The straps at the waist and chest are a plus.

Comments about Eagle Creek Universal Traveler Backpack RFID:

I use this to go to and from work as well as for travel. The main thing it is missing that ALL my packs have had is an outside pocket for small items such as sunglasses or lip balm for easy access. The construction is lightweight, which is good, but it is hard to zip without holding the zipper path. I used to be able to just pull the zip on a more hardy backpack, without it buckling up. Otherwise I like the design.

Comments about Eagle Creek Universal Traveler Backpack RFID:

I have an older (?2008?) Switchback 22. It has been all over the world with no problems, except in airports, where I want to keep the daypack at my seat and put the larger bag overhead: i.e., I do not want to zip the daypack to the front of of the big bag, but the smaller pack is a pain in the ### sliding off the extended handle during those sprints across the Tarmac or along the human conveyor belt. This new pack with its handle sleeve solves the problem perfectly--and gives me added security for electronics and ID. Thank you Eagle Creek for a product that updates and improves my initial investment!

Comments about Eagle Creek Universal Traveler Backpack RFID:

I am a frequent business traveler - both domestic and international. Keeping my routine to two carry-ons is critical. The Traveler Backpack RFID is a perfect compliment to my 22" wheeled luggage. It is one of the only packs that I have found that has luggage pass through, chest and waist straps while being light weight and slightly sporty/stylish. I am not only able to bring critical IT essentials (laptop, iPad, kindle, cables, adapters) but also there is plenty of room in the middle compartment for a change of clothes and toiletries. The additional compartments are well thought out as there are plenty of ways to organize your miscellaneous items such as passport, keys, earphones, pens, business cards and printed reading materials. I can't recommend this pack enough.
