Good idea - poor execution

If the bag actually worked correctly, I would use it all the time. It currently resides in the top of the closet. As a backpack it doesn't hold up if anything is placed I it. The snaps do not take any weight. Also the length of the straps are awkward I either mode. Wish it worked 😕

Versatile tote bag

I used this tote extensively during a recent trip to Iceland & Ireland. It was my carry on bag while traveling and my primary bag during touring & sightseeing. It was big enough to hold my essentials and any purchases I made. I loved the bag except for the way the shoulder straps /handle was set up. There was a snap to keep the straps in place to convert for use as either shoulder carry or handle carry but the snaps didn't hold securely so there was a lot of shifting going on. When used as light backpack, the straps were a bit thin if you put too much into the bag. Overall, though, I was very pleased with this item and will use it again!

Great Idea/Bad Execution

I bouoght this product because of its lightweight, design to fold into a pouch, its ability to expand, and my faith in Eagle Creek products to perform as descriped. While I was pleased with the first three, my faith was misplace for this product. This bag has two straps - one is sown into the bag at the length suitable for a hand-held tote. The other strap is suppose to change length depending on use - two snaps are supposed to hold for a tote; another supposes to divide the strap in two for backpack mode. As others mentioned, the snaps are not strong enough to hold their configuration - in either tote mode or backpack mode - if any weight is add to bag. When I tried using it as a tote, I cuoldn't shorten the straps enough and they hung below the bottom - until I actually lifted it. Then the snaps came undone and the two handles were of unequal lengths making it impossible to carry. Nor did the snaps hold for the backpack configuration. I ended up using it as a drawstring bag, but even then it was difficult to put on as there was no easy way to keep the strap divided in two parts. I'm very disappointed in this product.

Fatal flaws; I returned it.

Pros: There is lots of room for how small and packable it is. I like the expanding feature. It's very easy to pack in its own pouch. The fabric, construction, and zippers seemed to be good quality. It has a zipper pouch on the outside and you can use the pouch it packs in as an interior zipper pocket, which is very convenient. The design is simple and low key, yet nice looking. Cons: The real dealbreaker for me was that the snaps that convert it from a backpack to a tote back are too weak. In tote configuration, the snap would come apart with any weight in the bag, even so much as just a Nalgene-sized bottle of water. It was slightly sturdier in backpack mode, since the snap for that configuration seems to be a bit stronger. Also, the tote straps are too short. I could've lived with this if not for the unsnapping issue. Additionally I'm not sure what the exterior end pockets are supposed to hold. They are definitely not big enough for a water bottle. I might have trusted that a chapstick wouldn't fall out, but I wouldn't have put anything else in it. If eaglecreek would have made the snaps stronger and the tote straps a bit longer, I would've kept it. These seem like really obvious issues that makes me wonder if eaglecreek even tested their own product before sending it to market.

I purchased this product because of the expansion capabilities for travel. I recently took this to Europe with me. I found the snaps frustrating and annoying as I tried to use it as a bag. It works better as a back pack. I am sorry I bought this bag. I could have spent my money on a better product

Straps over engineered, under thought

Converted easily from day bag to backpack and is very light weight. Once converted, however, difficult to find stuff--no compartment dividers, snaps don't hold--had to secure with large safety pins, and the straps are ridiculous-- the bottom plastic loop is unnecessary and complicates the strap so you cannot put it back through the buckle to secure the length. You have to thread it over, under, over, under--too complex when you want quick. Had to cut it off. I would only recommend with these comments.

Years of Great Organization!

We have had Eagle Creek products for many years. We are going to Europe and saw that items were now being made in various sizes and of a terrifically lightweight material. We have now used the new items for several trips and are delighted. While they contain our clothing and keep shirts, blouses, and sweaters neatly folded, they easily pack in our luggage, making the packing and unpacking a breeze. They add no weight so more can be packed! We are so glad that Eagle Creek has expanded its line of products.

not as fabulous as expected

As extra very lightweight bag to use once arriving on my vacation to use as backpack but also more normal looking tote, it did not like up to expectations. The snaps to hold tote strap in place kept opening and making it hard to use in that state. The idea of it was great but it's functionability of construction may need some improvement by your designers. Also, it'd be great if you had a video of this on the site as you do with other products to demonstrate, It comes open as tote and the folded into pouch is very difficult to figure out.
