Not sturdy- hard to maneuver

Pro: I really like the design and the space of the bag. It is after all 120 l. It is easy to pack because the bag opens easily with big loops on (and option to use a pad lock- much recommended when checking in luggage). The bag has sturdy zippers. The wheels roll easily (but the bag is not well designed so falls over) I did not use the carrying straps that would make this bag into a backpack but I liked that they easily could be clipped off. The storage bag is a nice added value. Con: Caveat: I travel globally to probably the worst airports in the world. I had one return trip to South Sudan with this bag and there was a small hole in the canvas. As comparison, I have a 10 year old back pack that has endured the same travel many times a year for 3 years. I would say the canvas is not strong enough for this price. The zippers also opens too easy. I saw my bag unfold as the zipper got stuck in the conveyor belt upon my return to the US. Do remember to use a lock or tie the zippers! When the bag is full it is hard to maneuver while rolling. It bumps into my legs and also keels over while rolling even when I am not bumping into is. The bag is so big that for a 5' 7'' person it can be hard to keep the belly of the bag off the ground while pulling the bag (it gets worse when the bag is half empty because it sways more). I had originally ordered the 90 l bag but it seemed small for 90 l but perhaps that would have been a better match to my height?

love Eagle Creek Stuff!

To Jeff of Grays lake Ill. I too love the light weight but when on the go want my things to stay put and without interior comp. straps it would wad up and make me crazy flying through airports with the I'm balance of my cargo. SOOOOOOOO I got problem solving and bought two generic comp straps and before packing laid the straps the empty bag and proceeded to pack when done I just compressed my heart out and zipped it and I was off! I pat myself on the back as it really fixed a slight flaw in an awesome bag. So Jeff I hope this helps and as for the camera Me too I just make my camera bag be my carry on. Other than that this bag could hide Hoffa!!!

Straps are the issue

Roomy and durable shell paired with the lightweight materials. However, I give this 2-stars because of the shoulder straps. While the lower quick release snaps are convenient, the upper portion slides out and has loosened beyond the clip and almost fallen off my back. To remedy this required duct tape. The 90L and 120L packs are great but need improvement to remedy this along with possibly adding a cross-chest strap. I'd be hesitant to recommend these packs, but because I'm beyond the return window I'll hold on to them. If I could give a 2.5 or 2.78 rating, that would be the more accurate rating.

Excellent materials and space, could use better strap option

I just returned from almost two weeks in Costa Rica. The Cargo Hauler XL was a great option for me to deal with the constant movement, weight restricted flights, rain and damp conditions, etc. Overall, I am quite happy with the bag and it's performance in those conditions. However, I have two constructive feedback points. First, there should be built-in compression straps. The bag is large and has little structure (as expected). To keep things from moving, it needs compression straps. I purchased separately from local hardware store and it worked well. Would be better if built-in. Second, while the straps work well when carrying as a backpack, I also used often with a full camera backpack and had to carry the bag. The side handle worked well. However, I would have preferred an option to convert the backpack straps to a larger crossover shoulder strap or to at least include a snap handle to bind the two straps together.

Good bag but.........

My main issue is, Eagle Creek needs to figure out how to make zippers on all bags that cannot be easily broken in to/split using a ball point pen that will easily separate any zipper track....I bought TSA locks that are worthless when a ball point pen can easily separate any zipper on any bag.....and then after contents are stolen, the thief can easily zip zipper back together making it look like nothing was stolen!!!

If only it was a tad longer

I wish eagle creek built a bag like this that would accommodate a fly fishing rod tube. I love the light weight, back pack style carry straps, but rod tubes are about 32 inches long. Most fly fishing companies build bags for the purpose, but most are too heavy and built by third parties and just branded.
