This bag *almost* had everything I was looking for, with a few exceptions:

I'd prefer an exterior water bottle holder.

I understand the straps are meant to be "switchable" from left- to right-shoulder wear, but it isn't, really, (as previous reviewers have noted); you must wear it on the left shoulder if you expect to access the zippered compartments while wearing (which is a chief benefit of this type of bag). Right-shoulder wear (and opposite zipper orientation) would be much more functional:ex: if, while driving, I place the bag on the passenger seat with the heavier bottom end toward the seat back, the zippers are on the wrong side (away from me) and difficult to access. If I instead position the bag so the zippers are toward me (with the bag bottom toward the dashboard), gravity then makes the bag contents likely to fall out. Likewise for opening the zippers while wearing: since I am right-handed, I find it a bit awkward to open the zippers with my left hand.

The slant of the open pocket in front is also opposite what it should be for left-shoulder wear - when you swing the bag around while wearing (to access the zippered pockets), the lower end of the slanted open pocket is toward the ground - a little easier to lose things that way.

The phone pouch is an outstanding feature, but I'm not sure why the zipper is configured as a one-way zip that only opens at the top and down one side - I'd rather have a two-way zip open down both sides, and not open quite as far down on each side (you only need to be able to grab the top of the phone to remove or replace it, you don't need to put it in lengthwise).

One more thing - it has two little pockets (& an RFID tablet sleeve) in the big zippered pocket, but none of those pockets are zippered (only a little velcro-type strap on one). I'd like a way to keep small/private items zipped away in at least one pocket, so they aren't visible - or able to fall out - when I open the larger pocket. Almost perfect!

I really liked this bag the phone pocket on the front for me is its best feature. The bad is the strap broke for the second time in the same position both times while I was traveling this time in Australia had to purchase another bag to carry passport, wallet, etc. I'm not going to bother sending back for another repair not worth the hassle.. Feedback: redesign how the shoulder straps are attached/sewn to the bag and it's a great sling.

Practically Perfect in Every Way

Comments about Eagle Creek Black Tablet Sling Daypack RFID Bag Backpack:

Like Mary Poppins, this bag is practically perfect in every way. It has the room to carry my stuff and is streamline and comfortable to wear. My 11" MacBook Air fits nicely in the pocket, and I can fit my 12" MacBook Pro by not using the special pocket. I found that the organizers with the criss-cross elastic bands work great to keep small items handy. The best feature is the small pocket on the strap! Great for sun glasses, phone, passport, tickets, etc. I also like that you can change the direction of the sling. One small annoyance it the attachment to hook the waist strap. I get that it needs to be removeable to accommodat the change in sling, however, it may be too easy to change. My experience has been that it slips off while I'm wearing it. Maybe an adjustable loop would be more secure.

    • can only be used with strap across the chest,

Comments about Eagle Creek Black Tablet Sling Daypack RFID Bag Backpack:

I have had other sling daypacks that were more flexible, in that they could hang on one shoulder, rather than just across the chest and on the back. This is handy for reaching in and out for my wallet and keys. I have to take this one off completely and end up walking out of a store with my wallet in my hand instead of in my bag.

Customer Service asked for pictures of the pilling; then quickly said is was "normal wear and tear." I'm retired and only used it on two 14 days trips abroad. I can't imagine how this product would perform if someone really used it!
